General Information

Higher secondary school for the deaf, Neerpara is a residential school. This school is functioning at Neerpara in velloor Grama Panchayat near Thalayolaparambu in Vaikom Taluk of Kottayam, District, By the side of Kottayam-Ernakulam Road via. Kanjiramattom. Now this school is under Kaduthuruthy Education District (Pala Education District up to the year 2001) Kerala State.

This school was started in 1968 and there is - No fee for studying from pre-primary to 12th.

The plus two course was started in Neerpara Special School in 2002 when there were no opportunities for further studies after the 10th standard. Plus Two course includes Computer, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Malayalam with the great goal of providing comprehensive and universal education to children who deserve special attention. Neerpara special school is the - only higher secondary school in Kottayam District for hearing impaired children. It is one of the schools in Kottayam district which has achieved 100% pass rate consistently.

Assisi PRIVATE ITI FOR THE DEAF, started on 2006, It is an 1 Year ITI course - CO and PA (COMPUTER OPERATOR AND PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT) Affiliated to NCVT.

Course fees : For Assisi private ITI for the deaf Rs - 25000/-

Food and Accommodation charges will be Rs - 2000/- per month.

Students Uniform

Students must wear school uniform on all working days. The uniform for boys in nursery to 10th is pants and shirt and the uniform for girls in nursery to 4th standard is skirt and shirt and the uniform for girls in 5th standard to 10th is churidar.

The uniform for boys in higher secondary is blue and black colored pants, a light blue and rose shirt and a black belt and the uniform for girls in higher secondary is pants and coat.

Uniforms are sewn and provided by the school after taking the measurements of each child. School ID card with photograph is issued to the children at the time of school opening.

Displinary Rules

A sense of discipline, respect for rules and mutual cooperation needs to be inculcated in students during their school days so that they grow up to be disciplined citizens. Strict adherence to school rules and regulations helps them in this regard.

So rules and regulations should not be imposed on them but should be seen as part of their school life which helps in real character formation. All activities in the school are aimed at this goal.
